CADDY – THE INDISPENSABLE COMPANION – PART 1

Part 1: The prideful companions

With the growing context of the golf service in Vietnam, caddy is no longer a new profession. However, in the Southwest region, this is still a rather vague and unfamiliar job that is roughly referred to as a “ball picker.” It was not until the West Lakes golf course gradually came into operation that the view of the caddy profession became more authentic and accurate.

Learning to be a caddy is not difficult. Yet, becoming a good caddy, a true companion of golfers, requires a long journey of effort and dedication: sweat, youth, enthusiasm, and above all, an enormous love for golf.

In addition to having the necessary professional knowledge and golf skills, a companion like a caddy must also understand the golfer’s playing style and efficiently grasp their psychology.

In unfortunate situations when the golfer is disappointed with the unsatisfied shots, the accompanying caddy will act as a psychologist to help soothe their negative emotions and encourage them to sustain their excitement in the game. Even if the golfer blames the caddy, the caddy would still maintain a cheerful, calm, and skillful attitude to keep the interwoven dramatic and sublimating golf game going.

The story of the indispensable companions in every golf game is indeed very long and has many hidden corners. You may have certainly heard stories of their dedication and sacrifice, as well as the victory moments of golfers when having a caddy as a solid rear.

And for us - West Lakes golf course - the caddy team is definitely our pride.

We are proud of having nearly 200 caddies who always work hard with the most optimistic spirit. Among them, many caddies have accompanied us ever since the first day of operation, when the facilities were far from complete, the course was still empty, especially when we were located in an area where the economy has not developed much.

Nonetheless, our team has overcome many difficulties to improve and perfect ourselves. Now, we are confident that we are not just the ones carrying the clubs and standing behind the golfers’ backs, but have become reliable companions for every golfer.  

I have observed every single caddy becoming more mature, professional, and carefully concerned about each customer's swing.

Thus, at West Lakes Golf & Villas, caddies will surely be the confident companions to share every memorable moment with golfers on the course.
